A taste of our place

Everything about Amisfield reflects Central Otago, including the dramatic stone building that houses our acclaimed Restaurant and Cellar Door. Our three-hatted restaurant experience takes you on a culinary journey through the tastes of this beautiful place, infusing an element of intrigue into everything we bring to the table.

Since opening our doors in 2005, the Restaurant has become an essential destination for gourmands and vinophiles. With its pitched copper roof, recycled timberwork and remarkable stonemasonry, the building cuts a silhouette as sharp as the mountains that guard it. Inside you’ll discover welcoming New Zealand hospitality, fireside and alfresco dining, flawless service and a backdrop of breathtaking beauty.

Having honed his craft at a three-star Michelin restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain, Executive Chef Vaughan Mabee was invited to showcase his extraordinary talents at two-star Michelin phenomenon Noma in Copenhagen.

Now bringing his creative genius to Amisfield, Vaughan with his team create dishes that represent the work of a small group of fisherman, hunters, gatherers and farmers. They bring their products together to epitomise the tastes of Central Otago and in doing so, highlight the relationship between the raw produce and the finished product. These dishes cumulate in a dining experience that helps define NZ cuisine to the world.

The team believe they are charged with a sensitivity and commitment to their environment and they choose their partners in their menu's for the quality they offer as well as their commitment to sustainability and ethical farming practices.
