Of the earth
Everything about Amisfield is of the earth, including the dramatic stone building that houses our acclaimed Bistro and Cellar Door. Our two-hatted restaurant experience takes you out of your culinary comfort zone, infusing an element of intrigue into everything we bring to the table.
Since opening our doors in 2005, the Bistro has become an essential destination for gourmands and vinophiles. With its pitched copper roof, recycled timberwork and remarkable stonemasonry, the building cuts a silhouette as sharp as the mountains that guard it. Inside you’ll discover welcoming New Zealand hospitality, fireside and alfresco dining, flawless service and a backdrop of breathtaking beauty.
Having honed his craft at a three-star Michelin restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain, Executive Chef Vaughan Mabee was invited to showcase his extraordinary talents at two-star Michelin phenomenon Noma in Copenhagen.
Now bringing his creative genius to Amisfield, Vaughan works with an expert forager and charcutier to hunt, gather and curate the freshest seasonal produce that celebrates the local region. Vaughan’s dishes are as much a work of art as they are a gastronomic revelation, complemented by Amisfield’s renowned wines and a relaxed environment overlooking local vineyards.
